Over the years, a number of racers have left their belongings at The Gate. We’ve amassed a collection of cars, boxes of stuff, pit shelves, etc that belong to people who do not regularly race at NORCAR. Some of these items and boxes have been in our back room for years and we have no clue who they belong to. These items are taking up a lot of valuable storage space at our track. If any of these items belong to you, please make arrangements to collect them by SATURDAY, JUNE 1, 2019. You can stop by during any scheduled club race to collect them. If you no longer want them, please let us know and the NORCAR Board will dispose of them. ANY UNCLAIMED ITEMS WILL BE DISCARDED AFTER JUNE 1!
This does not apply to current club members or regular racers. One of the perks of being a club member is that you may leave your items in your pit.
We will be closed on Sunday, March 31. ARCS in Ashtabula will be holding their 2019 Lake Erie Shootout on March 29 and March 30.
The following two weekends we’ll be back to racing on Saturdays. (April 6 and April 13.) We’ll continue to open at 8:00am with racing starting at 11:00am.
We’ll be closed Easter weekend April 20 and 21. We hope everyone enjoys the weekend with their families. We’ll also be working to tear down the off-road track and switch back to road course.
We’ve had a number of racers and club members express interest in finishing earlier on Sundays. This will allow everyone to get home for dinner and spend more time with their families.
Starting Sunday, February 10, we’ll open at 8:00am and racing will begin at 11:00am.
Off-road starts Sunday, Feb 3, 2019. We’ve updated some of the rules, so please make sure you check them out.
Two notable changes:
We clarified some of the Slash rules to help with some “grey” areas. This includes no use of traction compound! That also means that you cannot soak your tires before you come to the track.
We will be allowing foam tires on buggies to help align our rules with Ashtabula. You may run SXT traction compound on foam tires only. Absolutely no use of any traction compound on any rubber tires in any class.
We understand that there’s been some concern among our club members and racers regarding off-road tires. The Board has had many discussions about the use of off-road rubber and foam tires in the buggy class.
As it stands right now, we will allow both foam and rubber tires. This is to accommodate the guys from ARCS who have expressed interest in running both in Ashtabula and at The Gate. We run different carpet than ARCS so there’s no telling how much (if any) performance advantage foams will be.
We’re all in this together and want to make sure that our rules are fair to everyone. After the first couple of races, the NORCAR Board will re-evaluate the tire situation.
